General
All Aboard is looking for volunteers to work with adults (18 or older) with special needs on various activities including cooking, arts /crafts, singing/rhythms, game playing, exercise, reading on Mondays, Tuesdays (bowling at Bowlero Lanes, Lynnwood) Wednesdays, Thursdays and/or Fridays, anytime between 11:00-4:30. Activities vary by day. (see brochure and website)
Tasks
We are looking for volunteers to help by:
· Assisting or instructing arts/crafts activities for small groups or individuals (ex: cutting, coloring, gluing, drawing, painting, ceramics, sewing, crochet)
· Assisting or instructing exercise and reading activities for small groups or individuals
· Assisting with cooking activities
· Assisting in office
· Assisting with monthly S.P.I.N. dance (Forest Park, Everett)
· Assisting with special events ( celebrations, annual picnic, fundraising activities, field trips)
· Performing (ex: all types of musicians, rhythm experiences, skits, coordinating plays, magic tricks, pantomime)
· Promoting positive, social interaction (ex: interactive storytelling, reading/discussing a book, exercising with a small group, teaching dance steps, playing table/card games)
· Assisting with the organization and framing of art for special events (State fair, artist of the month, community art displays)
· Assisting with facilities maintenance and improvement (cleaning, general upkeep, painting, repair, simple storage construction)
· Writing grants for scholarship funds and other program enhancements
· Assisting with bowling ramps, and transitioning of bowlers to/from/during activity
Abilities
This person will be volunteering in an environment that requires the following abilities:
· Ability to deal with frequent disruptions, and different activities at any given time
· Demonstrates respectful and supportive interaction with participants and service providers
· Demonstrates positive, verbal communication skills with all adults
· Ability to follow staff directions, when provided
· Ability to assist participants, while recognizing their need to do on their own as much as possible and the need to be safe Rev. 5/14
Requirements
A Washington State background check must be done and passed in order to volunteer at All Aboard.
